Censored T-shirt

Listen to this story...

Chase Harper knows what it feels like to stand alone for what he believes. In 2004, at his high school in Southern California, he parted ranks with other students and refused to be silent about his school’s annual participation in the “Day of Silence,” an event sponsored by the Gay, Lesbian, Transgender, Education Network.

When Chase wore a T-shirt to school that expressed his religious beliefs about homosexual behavior, he was told to “leave his faith in the car” and remove the shirt or face disciplinary actions.

The Alliance Defense Fund stood firmly behind Chase and championed his right to free speech and to express his individual religious beliefs. Unfortunately, Chase’s situation is not unique.  After repeated requests for assistance, ADF launched a nationwide event called the Day of Truth to help other young people like Chase to be able to respond to the Day of Silence in their schools.

Today, news of Chase’s courage and conviction has encouraged hundreds of students around the country to join him in speaking the Truth in love to their fellow students.

One person’s refusal to be silenced has been heard by many.
